This is a lovely plant for the early to mid-summer, sporting flowers which are a rare, rich purple that look fabulous contrasted with acid yellow euphorbias and orange geums. Verbascum phoeniceum ‘Violetta’ bears erect, airy stems carrying many thin-petalled flowers which rise from basal rosettes of semi-evergreen, crinkled leaves. Although this is a short-lived perennial plants readily self-seed without being unduly invasive. Drought tolerant once established and good for pollinators. Height: 90cm (35”). Spread: 45cm (18”).
Grow in freely draining soil in full sun. Water well after planting, drought tolerant once established. Plants are perennial but short-lived. Will happily self-seed and seedlings come true to colour.
