Nuphar Lutea (Deep Water Aquatic)

This striking British native is a vigorous deep water aquatic with leathery, dark green foliage, similar to that of a water lily. From June to August this submerged hardy perennial sends up golden cup-shaped blooms that smell of alcohol, hence the common name of Brandy Bottle. Nuphar lutea is a versatile plant tolerating both running water and heavy shade. With its wide, spreading habit, it is best given plenty of space to grow, making this an ideal choice for large ponds and lakes. Height: 100cm (39″). Spread: 200cm (78″). Grow Nuphar fully submerged in the deep water of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 100cm (39″) below water level. Yellow Waterlily prefers a position in full sun or semi-shade, but will tolerate a deeply shaded position if necessary. Nuphar may be grown in still or flowing water. When grown in fast flowing water, ensure it is anchored well. The leaves may remain under the surface due to the flow.
