Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
Lychnis chalcedonica, otherwise known as Maltese Cross, is the most spectacular of perennials. With tight groupings of crimson star-shaped flowers displayed on statuesque stems, the Maltese Cross flowers throughout the mid-summer months, giving spectacular colour and excitement to the back of sunny borders. Lychnis chalcedonica thrives in a moist boggy location, so is perfect at the edge of garden ponds and in marsh-like areas. Maltese Cross is the proud holder of an RHS AGM. Height: 120cm (48″). Spread: 30cm (12″). Grow Lychnis in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, well drained soil that remains reliably moist in summer. Also suitable for clay soils, damp or boggy areas and planting around the edges of ponds.
