Lavender ‘Twin Summer’ (Butterfly Garden)

French Lavenders are loved for their distinctive winged blooms. This one brings a funky twist to garden borders, with its paint-splashed wings of purple and white. As you’d expect, the bicolour flowers are long lasting and richly aromatic, with a traditional perfume. Lavender ‘Twin Summer’ is neat and compact making a lovely patio plant, and equally good as a border specimen or planted as a low hedge. Perfect for cottage gardens, urban patios and wildlife areas where it will attract plenty of interest from pollinating insects. Height and spread: 60cm (24″).

Grow French lavender plants on free draining soil in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing French lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.
