In a similar way to Lavender Hidcote, English Lavender is a great choice for any small garden or even as a feature in a larger area.

It has impressive lilac flowers which can return several times across the summer if they are pruned post-flowering.

Lavender is a great alternative to a lower growing fragrant hedge and it is very popular with bees and butterflies, ideal for cutting and drying.

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. There are many ways to use lavender flowers, both in sweet or savoury dishes. Make a delicious lavender sugar and add to biscuits, sorbets, jams or jellies. Add flowers to vegetable stock and create a tasty sauce for duck, chicken or lamb dishes.
