Lavender Alba

Resilient and reliable Lavender ‘Alba’ brightens up borders with its simple but effective white flowers. Profuse and long flowering, this hardy shrub has plenty to offer in terms of interest. During the summer months, masses of white blooms held on upright stems provide an eye-catching highlight, throwing out that classic, powerful lavender fragrance as well as attracting bees and butterflies. Throughout the rest of the year, the neat and bushy silver-grey foliage provides a sturdy structural shape to a planting space. Vigorous and robust, this lavender is great for growing as a low maintenance hedge, as part fo a parterre or simply dotted around in mixed borders and pots. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing English lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.
