Juncus Effusus (Marginal Aquatic)

Juncus effusus can be found in waterways throughout Britain. Its stiffly upright stems form dense clumps that spread via creeping rhizomes. Throughout summer the virtually leafless stems bear small sprays of purple-brown flowers. Commonly known as the Smooth Rush, this hardy perennial thrives in damp boggy soil and the shallow margins of ponds. Height and spread: 60cm (24″). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 15cm (6″) below water level.

Grow Juncus in moist, boggy, acid soil or submerged in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 15cm (6″) below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi shade.
