Iris X Robusta ‘Dark Aura’

Iris x robusta ‘Dark Aura’ is a particularly classy perennial! The young foliage emerges a deep reddish-purple colour which slowly matures to green with a purple flush at the base of each leaf. In summer, this hardy perennial throws up dark purple stems topped with opulent violet-purple blooms. A striking moisture loving Iris for wet, boggy areas and the shallow margins of ponds, where it casts beautiful reflections upon still water. Height: 90cm (36″). Spread: 30cm (12″). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 15cm (6″) below water level.

Iris x robusta plants thrive in damp, acid or neutral soil in a sunny or semi-shaded position. These moisture loving Iris require a rich, fertile soil which has had plenty of well rotted organic matter added into the soil prior to planting. Grow Iris x robusta in moist, boggy soils or submerged in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 15cm (6″) below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi shade.
