A free-flowering variety, Helleborus Frostkiss ‘Pippa’s Purple’ bears very large, single flowers, up to 7cm across, in a smoky shade of purplish-pink above attractive marbled foliage.
The Frostkiss series of hellebores are distinguished by their gorgeous, marbled foliage which almost rivals the blooms in beauty and gives these late winter flowerers all year-round interest and appeal. The leathery, deep green leaves boast fine cream marbling which is flushed with lovely pink tones in spring. These cultivars are renowned for their prolific flowering and large, nodding blooms of up to 7cm across which come in a range of exquisite colours all highlighted by the central boss of yellow stamens. These hellebores make a welcome addition to woodland gardens and shaded borders interplanted with other early spring flowerers and bulbs where they will provide a valuable source of nectar for early emerging insects. They also make charming patio plants for winter containers. Height and Spread: 60cm (24”).
A free-flowering variety, Helleborus Frostkiss ‘Pippa’s Purple’ bears very large, single flowers, up to 7cm across, in a smoky shade of purplish-pink above attractive marbled foliage. Grow hellebores in neutral or alkaline soil, in dappled shade. Hellebores prefer a moist, humous rich, fertile soil that does not dry out in summer or sit waterlogged in winter. When growing hellebores on heavy clay or free draining gravel soils, add plenty of well rotted leaf mould or other organic matter to the soil prior to planting.
