Give your garden a vibrant splash of late summer colour with Dahlia ‘Pompone Mixed’. The small but perfectly formed flower heads create a wonderful colour mix that give borders a lovely vintage feel. The tall stems of this decorative dahlia add height and structure to the back of borders, and are perfect for cutting for your own bouquets. Height: 120cm (47″). Spread: 60cm (24″).
Culinary note: All dahlia flowers and tubers are edible. The flavours and textures can vary greatly depending on the soil and conditions in which they were grown. Flavours range from water chestnut through to a spicy apple or even carrot.
Every garden needs a splash of dahlias! Use this super value mix in borders for that classic touch. Try growing your own bouquets of exhibitionquality dahlias. Plant Dahlia tubers outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm (6″) and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June.
