A handsome perennial for moist or waterlogged soil and pond margins. Cyperus longus can be grown in water up to 25cm (10″) deep, so makes a useful marginal aquatic for deep ponds and lakes.
The dense, thick growth of Cyperus makes it a useful habitat for encouraging wildlife to the garden. Galingale plants are exotic-looking, with umbrella-like stems and foliage, and reddish-bronze spikelets during the height of summer. Height: 120cm (48″).
