An elegant grass, rewarding with handsome variegated foliage that provides evergreen interest, plus spectacular summer/autumn flowers. Chionochloa flavicans ‘Taupo Lights’ forms low clumps of arching foliage, variegated with cream margins. In summer, tall, stiff stems support cascading, plume-like flowers, up to 30cm long, that emerge green and age to cream. The silky flowers sparkle in the light and are perfect for adding height, texture and movement to borders. They also make a wonderful addition to flower arrangements. This drought, wind and salt tolerant grass is perfect for tough locations such as coastal gardens, or dry, gravelly borders. It also works beautifully cascading over the sides of a large container. Height: 150cm (5ft). Spread: 50cm (20in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow in a warm, well drained position. Apply mulch around the base annually to conserve water and supress weeds. Tidy and remove dead leaves in spring. When required, lift and divide clumps in the spring.
