The neat, compact plants only reach around 45cm tall, but produce plentiful large, rounded pom-pom flower heads in a range of striking pink, purple and apricot shades from July all the way through to October. Pot up bidens plugs and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting at a later date. Pinch out the growing points while the plants are still small to encourage more stems. Regular pinching will create a shapely compact plant that is perfect for containers. When plants are well grown acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days prior to planting them in their final positions. Grow Bidens plants in containers, hanging baskets and borders in any well drained soil in full sun.
